1. What image(s) of God do we see in the first couple verses of this psalm? What does this teach us about who God is?

2. What are some of the ways life feels unstable today? How does resting in God give us stability in our lives?

3. Verse 2 says the “Lord surrounds his people.” For most of us, emotional insecurity is more real than physical insecurity. Why are our emotions such an unreliable way to know who God is?

4. When we are feeling anxious, why is going to the Lord a vital part of dealing with it?

5. Where does our goodness come from? Where does it begin? (see verse 4)

6. The psalm closes with the statement, “Peace be upon Jerusalem.” How does this summarize the message of this psalm?

7. See Mathew 7:24-27. What/who is the rock that is commended in this parable? Why is building our life on Jesus the only way to find lasting stability and security?
